Questions before you book

What should I send with my request?

Send the cemetery name, its address, the plot details and a short note about the work you need. Clear photos help show the stone, its base and the ground around it. Include any rules you have received from the cemetery. These details help us review the job before we quote.

How is the price for my job set?

The price depends on the stone, its size and state, the plot access and the work you choose. Some services have published price ranges, while others need a review first. Ask for an itemized quote so you can see the agreed tasks. Do not assume that delivery, permits and setting are all the same charge.

Can you help in New York or Washington?

Yes. Monument Services Group accepts intake in both New York and Washington, with service confirmed per cemetery. We coordinate with the cemetery for the work agreed in your quote. Our Washington location is in Tukwila; New York uses our Northeast network. Share the actual cemetery address so we can check the local steps for your job.

Do I need to check cemetery rules first?

Yes. Each cemetery can set rules for the plot, the stone and who may work on the grounds. Ask its office for the current written rules and share them with us. Our permit assistance covers forms and coordination where needed. Approval must be settled before work starts; a quote does not replace cemetery consent.

What record will I receive after the work?

Photo reports are part of our stated service process. They let you see the work without being at the plot in person. Ask which views will be included for your job, and keep the agreed scope with the final photos. If you have a question about a detail, refer to that scope when you contact us.

Check official New York cemetery consumer guidance and Washington cemetery rules and resources. The cemetery must confirm the requirements for your plot.

History

Albany Rural Cemetery is located in the city of Albany, New York, on an elevated plateau overlooking the Hudson River.

The cemetery was established as a result of a public reaction to overcrowded and deteriorating church burial grounds in the state's capital.

The citizens sought a "rural cemetery" outside the city proper, which was incorporated on April 2, 1841.

Albany Rural, true to its name, opened Oct. 7, 1844, and it remains one of the oldest examples of this style of picturesque cemeteries in the country.

The cemetery, now 467 acres, is the last resting place for the 21st U.S. president, Chester Arthur, along with legions of national and state politicians.

Monuments and memorials

About 1873, the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) erected a monument to remember local men who lost their lives during the Civil War.

The 15-foot-tall GAR Monument is composed of a bronze figure of a Civil War soldier atop a granite shaft, adorned on each side with bronze inscription plaques listing the names of those who died during the Civil War.
